Questions
What women ask first
Who can join?
Women 16 and up, at any level. Students who are 16 or 17 join with a parent or guardian's written permission on the enrollment page. Everyone starts where they are.
Do I need to be fit or flexible?
No. Every class starts with a warm-up you can do at your own pace, and each drill has an easier and a harder way to do it. Tell an instructor at the start if something is sore and we'll change it.
What happens in a first class?
You sign in, meet the instructor and join the warm-up. Then come partner drills with pads at a pace you choose, and a few minutes at the end for questions. You never have to try a drill you don't want to.
What should I wear?
A t-shirt and loose pants or leggings you can move in. Shoes come off at the mat, jewelry comes out and hair is tied back. We have wraps and pads to use for your first class.
Can I bring a friend or watch a class?
Yes to both. Bring a friend to a first class, or ask the front desk to sit on the bench and watch one before you decide. In regular classes we keep the floor to students, so everyone can practice without an audience.
Who teaches the classes?
Women teach every class. Sunhi and Roselande lead most of them, with two more instructors for lunch-hour classes and workshops. You can meet them on the instructors page.
How is a workshop series different from weekly classes?
A series has a set number of weeks, and the same group starts together and moves together. Weekly classes are open to members at any time. Many people do both.
Can you teach a workshop for our group or workplace?
Yes. We plan one evening or lunch hour with you, at the studio or at your place, for a team, club or circle of friends of up to 16. Send a message with the group and when you would like to meet.
How does tuition work, and how do I stop?
The tuition page explains what sets it, how billing works and the notice we ask for. Membership runs month to month, and we ask for written notice 30 days ahead.
What happens if I miss a class?
Tell us ahead and make it up in another class at the same level during the same session. Make-ups don't carry into the next session.
Still have a question?
Call the front desk or send a message, and we'll get back to you.
